WASRAG WORLD WATER SUMMIT
Birmingham, England 19 June 2009 

Momentum is building rapidly for the World Water Summit, being held at Birmingham's National Motorcycle Museum on Friday June 19th, and we are looking forward to seeing a large number of our WASRAG members and Rotary friends.  The 2008 Summit received rave reviews, and many Rotarians promised to return in 2009.

The program will open with an address by Richard Carter, Professor of International Water Development at Cranfield University. Professor Carter has worked for more than 30 years on the natural science, social science and engineering of water development and management, focusing especially on the poorest countries of sub-Saharan Africa.
 
At lunch we will be privileged to hear Ms. Maude Barlow, recently appointed Senior Advisor to the President of the UN General Assembly.   Ms. Barlow is an internationally acclaimed author and ardent spokesperson for the right to clean water and sanitation, and we are delighted that she has agreed to join us.

These outstanding speakers will be complemented by panel discussions and break-out sessions focused on ensuring the sustainability of water/sanitation projects. You will hear about "lessons learned" from projects in Africa, Asia and Latin America.  You will have the opportunity to discuss the challenges and opportunities you are facing in your own WASH projects.  And, Bob Wubbena, Chair of the Task Force that produced WASRAG's Strategic Plan, will brief everyone on this document and be available to answer questions.
