An horrific hurricane hit the country of Vanuatu on March 13, 2015.
We are aware that it is way too early to help the population of Vanuatu as they do not have any mean of communication currently. But we are collecting now to help them as soon as we can.
Relief workers reported "unbelievable destruction" after Tropical Cyclone Pam smashed the capital of Vanuatu, the Australian Red Cross said Saturday.
The Australian Red Cross said via Twitter that "humanitarian needs will be enormous. Many people have lost their homes. Shelter, food and water (are) urgent priorities" in Port Vila.
Meteorologists said the storm has weakened some, but it was still pounding the islands after hours of fierce winds and torrential rain.
"Cyclone Pam still tearing through Vanuatu. 'Much bigger than expected,' in Port Vila. Initial reports of devastation," the Australian branch of UNICEF said on Twitter earlier.
Hurricane Pam, one of the strongest storms seen in the South Pacific in years, made a direct hit on the capital, raising fears of mass destruction.
Pam has triggered watches and warnings in the Solomon Islands and New Zealand.

Rotary eClub One – Back to Boulder WEDNESDAY APRIL 29, 2015 - Annual Dinner.

Each year the members of Rotary eClub One have a chance to have dinner together. Normally, that event is held on the Monday evening during the Rotary International Convention in the city where the convention is held. Once in a while we choose instead to have dinner in the city of the Rotary club that sponsored us, Boulder Colorado. And this is the year as we will meet in Boulder! we will also have fun days together prior to the event. You can sign up now for all these by clicking on Back to Boulder under the "learn about Rotary eClub One" tab or by pasting this address in your browser: https://rotaryeclubone.org/about/backtoboulder/ .

We are proud to be the very first eClub ever created. Our members come from every walk of life and from across the globe. Most of us came here because our schedules didn't allow us to meet the membership requirements of our local club.

Back by popular demand, you can now again SHARE YOUR CLUB'S BANNER for the world to see on this page of this website (see below on the right).

President's Message MARCH 2015

The Rotary theme for March is literacy. Recently I read an article about a Rotarian named Todd Bol who started a book sharing program in 2009 IN memory of his mother who was an educator and avid reader. His little idea blossomed into a world-wide literacy project that grows each day. If you wish to learn more about his creation, he has a website named Little Free Library.

Many of our club members are involved in literacy project in one way or another and many of us have received grants through Rotary eClub One. When you visit our website and complete a make up for a missed meeting, your donation goes to funding projects around the world.

Personally I would like to thank you for your donation because I have been the recipient of 3 community grants and one international grant through Rotary eClub One. Those grants allowed me to provide books to various school libraries and children, improve a public library, provide sun protection for children when they play outside at school, and provide recycling bins for the town I live in.

Back to literacy, Todd Bol, has inspired me. If he could think of such a fun and easy to do thing as building and installing small libraries in communities the least I can do is take that idea to new places and hopefully it will encourage more reading and fun and let’s not forget, reading for fun!

Yours in Rotary Service,

Tracy Adams, President of Rotary eClub One 2014-2015
