DKSHA Storm Destruction Project Completion Report
May 9th, 2016: As you might have learned from Wayne Markel who forwarded my message sent to friends as requested to our member Isaac by the Deva Kirubai Social Help Association [DKSHA] Secretary Mr. Arockiadoss, they were hit by a major electrical storm. There was very little rain on 9th May afternoon in this region from 4 pm till 430 pm at about 5.30 p.m. all of as sudden a heavy thunder and strong power lightening struck between the DKSHA office and Children’s Dining hall.
May 11th: Isaac did not send this natural calamity news for request of funds from the club (even though the request was made to him by the Secretary of DKSHA namely Mr.Arockiadoss) because he has got one ISG project for helping the orphanage children and to the nearby village community already.
May 11th: Isaac states: “Our Club has to consider projects to all other members who might need assistance to do good in their own living country and areas where they live. The great good thing happened at that time was that nothing serious thing happened to the orphan children and all staff, even I was personally present at that time and saw this accident with my own eyes.”
May 11th: We asked Isaac if other funding could be available and he said “As for as I am aware, DKSHA does not have insurance for any damage like this kind. And even the companies supplied all electrical gadgets say warranty do not consider replacing the goods if they are damaged due to thunder or lightening...” The hired Electricians and other technicians have put a very hard work yesterday from morning 7 a.m. till evening 7 a.m. and temporary power supply is given to our office, girls residence and to the boys residence. One of the three UG cables got burnt and busted in one place and we have to trace the spot and do the needful to replace it. 7 ceiling fans not working; 6 CCTV cameras not working; One DVR; 2 Power supply boxes, 10 Tube Lights with choke got burnt; they have find ways to change the main power box things; starter box, fuse carrier etc.
May 12: Emmanuel was asked to present this catastrophe to the Disaster Relief Committee of Rotary eClub One. Isaac sent details and photos for information. Isaac really do not know what to do and how to meet this loss, but started taking the risk as we have to see that children and staff have to have a safe and secured life. They received little rain that is keeping the temperature little bit down and it is manageable these days. For the safety and the welfare of the children and the staff, the electricians came right away. They cannot expect any support help from anybody here in the local Government Departments and those from the Government of India... even though such a lot of local and central offices to assist the people.
May 15: The Disaster relief Committee voted to send $2,500 to DKSHA and Rotary eClub One Treasurer was instructed to send that sum to them. President Emmanuel sent an email of congratulations to Isaac.
