Because a community grant from Rotary eClub One was matched by a local arts foundation, there are now two musical additions to the music program at Wallace-Rose Hill High School in Teachey, North Carolina.
The doubled funds were used to purchase a keyboard and clarinet. The keyboard will be used by all district classes in the high school auditorium, and the clarinet will be used by students in the high school music program. Below, high school band members show off the new instruments.
Rotary eClub One members Robert and Carol Steen are supporters of the local Wallace-Rose Hill Fine Arts Foundation. Robert often volunteers to accompany professional musicians as they visit classrooms. Recently he spent a delightful two hours with three jazz musicians, Peter and Will Anderson and Alex Wintz, who talked with high school band students about improvisation. Peter and Will, twins, both play saxophone and clarinet, while Alex is on rhythm guitar. This trio represents the high quality performers the Fine Arts Foundation brings to local students.
Later, the musicians and teacher posed for a photo with the students on the school auditorium’s stage.
